Create a Telegram AI bot with BotFather | iabot
How to create a Telegram bot in 5 minutes
Want an AI bot on Telegram that answers in private chats, groups, and channels? This guide shows how to create the bot with @BotFather, connect it to iabot, and train it on your content—without coding.
You need a Telegram account and an iabot login. IALanding (web) and iaTalk have no plan fee. Telegram Pro (like WhatsApp Pro) is €29.99/month when you connect the channel. iALove uses prepaid credits that do not expire.
What you will get
- A Telegram bot with your own name and @username
- An AI trained on your PDFs, URLs, and media answering in that bot
- An IALanding generated for your channel
- Optionally, a public presence on iaTalk
- One panel to manage everything
Start at app.iabot.io/register.
Why Telegram plus one AI brain
You are not training a separate bot for every channel. Knowledge lives once in iabot; Telegram, WhatsApp, IALanding, and iaTalk share the same panel and human handover. That matters if you later add WhatsApp Pro or keep a free web presence alongside Telegram.
Compared with a hard-coded Telegram bot:
- Answers come from your PDFs and URLs, not only fixed button trees
- You can take control of any conversation from the panel
- The same channel can publish an IALanding and appear on iaTalk without rebuilding the AI
Before you start
You need:
- Telegram on mobile or desktop
- Google or email to register on iabot
- A clear idea of what the AI should do (support, education, community, sales)
No card is required to register or to use web and iaTalk.
Step 1: Create your iabot account and channel
- Open app.iabot.io/register.
- Sign in with Google or email.
- Click Create channel and name it clearly (e.g. “English Academy – Telegram AI”).
iabot prepares the AI channel, IALanding, and space for iaTalk. You can rename later.
Step 2: Create the bot with @BotFather
- In Telegram, search for @BotFather.
- Send
/start, then/newbot. - Choose a display name and a username ending in
bot. - Copy the API token BotFather returns.
Store the token carefully—you will paste it into iabot next. Pick a memorable username; changing it later is awkward.
Step 3: Connect Telegram in iabot
- Open your channel at app.iabot.io/register.
- Go to Integrations or Connections → Telegram.
- Paste the BotFather token and save.
iabot validates the token and links the bot to your AI. Optionally set an icon and short “about” text.
Connecting Telegram enables Telegram Pro at €29.99/month. You can train on web first and connect Telegram when you are ready for your community.
Step 4: Train your AI
Telegram communities are often niche-specific. Be clear about your topic so the AI stays on brand.
What to add
- PDFs — catalogues, FAQs, manuals, course material
- URLs — site, blog, service pages
- YouTube — if you have useful videos
- Media — images, short audio/video
- Example messages — tone and model answers
How
- Channel Settings → Bot identity: describe the business or community in 2–3 lines, set tone (professional, casual, fun), list services or content types.
- Attachments: 1–2 PDFs, 1–2 URLs, optional YouTube.
- Save.
Start with one PDF, one URL, and a few FAQs; grow the knowledge core as real questions appear. Prefer accurate, current material over dumping every file you own. When prices or policies change, update the source document the same day so the bot does not quote stale numbers.
Step 5: Test in Telegram
- Open your bot chat (e.g.
t.me/your_bot). - Send greetings and typical questions about services, hours, pricing, or signup.
- Check that answers match what you uploaded.
- Iterate: fix docs, add FAQs, retest.
Step 6: Groups, channels, and communities
Your bot can work in:
- One-to-one private chats
- Groups (students, customers, members)
- Channels (FAQs, documentation helpers)
Example patterns:
- An academy group where students ask about levels and materials 24/7
- A product community that points members to official docs and FAQs
- A content channel that returns links or PDFs for specific topics
Add the bot as an admin, set permissions, and let it answer from the same knowledge core you use on web—and later on WhatsApp if you connect it. Keep moderation rules clear: the AI should not invent policies, and sensitive topics should escalate to a human.
Step 7: IALanding and iaTalk
IALanding
Activate under IALanding: customise branding, copy the unique link, share your conversational page (no plan fee).
iaTalk
Mark the channel public under IATalk so it appears on iaTalk for discovery and follows.
Telegram Stars (optional monetisation)
Telegram Stars is Telegram’s official currency for paid content. It is optional: build the bot and audience first, then enable monetisation if it fits.
In iabot: Monetization → Telegram Stars, set prices and payment messages. Users buy Stars and spend them on your premium content according to Telegram’s rules. You do not need Stars to run a useful free-to-chat AI bot.
Use ideas by audience
Companies
24/7 FAQs in support groups, sales guidance, user communities, and docs-based technical answers. Example pattern: a software team that lets the bot handle product FAQs in a user group so humans focus on complex tickets.
Schools and academies
Course levels, schedules, enrolment steps, and study materials in student groups or channels. Teachers intervene only when the question is pedagogical or sensitive.
Creators
Exclusive channels, digital product sales, community FAQs, and optional Telegram Stars once you have an active audience.
Health and hospitality
Services, appointments, menus, hours, and location—with clear AI limits (no clinical or legal advice the business should not give).
These are illustrative patterns from the product guides. Adapt them to your niche; do not treat them as guaranteed results.
Advanced features
- Human handover — take control in Active conversations, then return to AI
- Multiformat — audio, video, PDF, and images in one message
- Bookings — hours, confirmations, reminders
- RefURL — tracked campaign links
Start with AI + Telegram + IALanding; add the rest when needed.
FAQ
Do I need to pay to create a Telegram bot?
You can create an account, train the AI, and use web and iaTalk with no plan fee. Connecting Telegram applies Telegram Pro at €29.99/month. WhatsApp Pro is the same price when connected.
How much does the AI cost?
Web and iaTalk: no plan fee. Pro channels: €29.99/month. iALove: prepaid credits that do not expire.
Does it work in groups and channels?
Yes. Add the bot as admin and configure permissions.
